One month

Our sweet baby Violet is already a month old! I can't believe how fast it has gone. Well, she is actually  almost 5 weeks old now, but these photos were taken on the day she turned one month. She has changed so much since the day she was born. She is so alert, and as you can see below, has an array of faces she likes to make. She is already so opinionated and very loudly let's us know when something is not to her liking (she gets the loudness from her daddy). Here are some of Violet's likes and dislikes:

Likes:
Milk
Her pink, white, and purple blankie
Tiny party hats
Cuddling on mama and daddy's chest
Riding in the car
Shopping with mama and Poppie (grandma)
The sound of the camera shutter
Sitting up like a big girl

Dislikes:
Bath time (hopefully this changes)
Being Swaddled
Getting buckled into her car seat
Hiccups
Going to sleep at a decent hour

We love this little one so much and can't get over how cute she is! It is so much fun to watch her grow and develop. We are so blessed!

Every month we will be making a new hat that corresponds with how old she is and taking pictures. Eeeeppp, so fun!

Violet's Birthday

Well, our sweet baby girl is here! She is already almost a month old! Wow, time flies so fast, I already need it to slow way down.

I thought I would share some (ok a lot) of the images from the day she was born.

The first time I held my girl

This was absolutely the best day of my life. I wish I could relive those first three days in the hospital over and over again. There were so many precious memories made in those first few days as a family of three that I will carry with me forever.

How I enjoyed the Super Bowl

I made my sweet Violet some headbands and also knitted a hat for her to wear in the hospital. I have meant to do both of these things for a while now. Nothing like waiting until 5 days before my due date to get it done.

Last year during the Super Bowl I was recovering from hip surgery and laid up on the couch, so I decided to teach myself to crochet and made these. I realized halfway through the game tonight that I was making headbands again, only this time for my daughter :) I guess I have made it my Super Bowl activity.

Please disregard the poor picture quality, there is no good light when you finish a project at eleven o'clock at night :)

Thank you snow day

These past couple of snowed in days has forced us to complete many more of our nursery projects on the  to-do-list. My mom came and stayed with us during the storm just in case little Violet thought it would be funny to come during the blizzard and also to help finish up said projects. A big one we have been meaning to get to is covering and decorating an old lamp shade and hanging it as a swag light. I loved the shape and size of this shade, but it was very weathered and had a couple of holes. I thought this would be perfect for Project Restyle. We loved the way it turned out! It ties that little corner together just right. Here is some of the process and the end product.

 Covered with fabric

Patched some holes with hearts (Mom's brilliant idea)

Decorated with vintage doillies

Sweet daddy hanging it from the ceiling

Taaadaaa!

Project Mobile

I finally tackled one of the nursery projects on my to-do-list! Violet's mobile is done! Yippeee! I have had this idea in my head for a while. I ordered the metal structure from Urban Outfitters, which is supposed to be a photo holder, but I had this in mind for it.

I took styrofoam balls of different sizes, wrapped smaller ones in scrap fabric and yarn. For the larger ones I quartered circles of fabric and pinned them into the styrofoam to create a flower like pom-pom. The actual mobile structure had to be taken apart and re-arranged about six times to make sure it hung just right and balanced out correctly. That was a chore! We haven't hung it over her crib yet because we lack the hardware to do so to make sure it is safe to hang.

I am so happy with the way it turned out, especially since I didn't have to get out and go buy more supplies for it. I took a look at what I had in my craft closet and made it work. Go me!

Vintage baby

I would love to dress Miss Violet in vintage dresses every now and then. These two from Miskabelly are exactly what I would love to have for her. So sweet
